Distractions abound

I got a massage (insert Michelle Pfeiffer’s accent from Stardust: MEH-ssaje). A real one, at a spa. There were robes and weird jelly sandals and a large quantity of oils and ointments. It was quite pleasant. It wasn’t exactly my idea to go right now, but there was a sale and my mum proposed a girls’ spa day. And I had some gift cards saved up from prior Christmases and birthdays. But it turned into an all-day affair. I seem to have a lot of those right now. I’d like them to stop, please.

I’m still behind on my words, but I am starting to get into the swing of the episode. One problem is that the headlong pace of NaNo seems to promote long, rambling scenes, even when I know what I’m trying to do. So the words I’m getting don’t get me very far into the story. I keep telling myself that I will get the hang of this soon. With that in mind, it’s back to the salt mines for me.

About Joyce

Joyce Sully lives in Southern California. She graduated from UC Irvine. She likes to knit and cook and play video games. But mostly she writes. Joyce writes short stories and novels, songs and poems, scripts and instructions to feed the cat if she stays out late. She has been spotted as far afield as Seattle, but travel makes her nervous. She believes in magic and dragons and ghosts, but is not convinced her next-door neighbors are real.
